Can Anxiety Cause You to Have Trouble Falling Asleep?

It is important to really work to overcome your anxiety, because if it is preventing you from sleeping, then both the nervous energy and insomnia will negatively impact your health. You should not just write it off as normal, and just think it is all right that you are not getting proper sleep. Anxiety is a serious issue, and so is insomnia. The two together in your life can make you feel moody, groggy and terrible overall.

With so many methods out there to fight anxiety, there is one out there that works best for your body and lifestyle. There is no need to go for a long period of time with sleepless nights and feeling tense all the time. Relaxation and focus are two key elements that are necessary to work through your anxiety.

The bottom line is that anxiety affects many aspects of your life. It does have the ability to disrupt your sleep patterns, and it is important to be cognizant of that. You do not have to walk around as a nervous zombie, because it is possible to overcome anxiety completely. So, take your time, release the tension and sort through the pressures in your life, and have a good night's sleep.

    What do you do when you have trouble falling asleep at night?
    A lot of times I have trouble falling asleep at night and it drives me crazy because I value my sleep. I know part of it is due to health reasons, but that’s not the only factor. I’ve tried Lunesta, Rozerem and Melatonin, but they only worked for a little while. So what are things you do that help you fall asleep, i.e. drink a warm glass of milk, play music, count sheep?

      I listen to worship music at night and I pray that God would allow me to rest. Sometimes I think about the scripture which says come you who are burdened and heavy laden and I(God) will give you rest. So when I’m very tired and can’t get sleep..I think about throwing myself and my cares into the arms of God..and it helps me. Camomille tea is also very good-it has a relaxation component to it..which makes it nice and soothing to drink before bed. I hope this helps!

    I have a lot of trouble falling asleep at night, what adive do you have to fall asleep quickly?
    I am a high school student right now with a lot of stress? I have a real problem falling asleep during weeknights and on the weekends. Sometimes i fallasleep an hour before i have to get up. This makes my day very stressful and hard considering i am very tired all day long. Please give me some pointers/tips/advice to falling asleep fast. My mind is restless, jumping from one thing to another which doesnt allow me to fall asleep.

    If anyone has ever had this problem they know how hard it is. Pleas give me some advice on how to fall asleep fast and get a restful nights sleep without using sleepaids.

      I was also having problems falling asleep, doing so around 3-4am, au aunt told me about Melatonin, its a natural pill. i tried it…and literally about 30-60 minutes later i could barely keep my eyes open. its over the counter so no need for a doc visit, and actually when i visited my doc for other reasons…i did ask about melatonin and she didnt see any problem with me taking it. it worked for me, dont know if it will work for you..but you can give it a try. hope it helps.

    What stage of sleep do you stay in when you have trouble falling asleep?
    When you have trouble sleeping and a few hours later realize you haven’t been asleep enough to dream but weren’t completely aware, what stage are you in? I don’t think it’s deep sleep.

      One opinion: could be one of two states: light sleep or deep sleep.

      Deep sleep is usually at the first of the night’s sleep. You might believe you’ve been partially aware, and yet have been in deep sleep for an hour, which would be “instantaneous” in terms of awareness.

      Or, light sleep is perhaps more time-aware (which is how you could figure the difference).

      Good research has indicated that simply lying awake in bed is 75% efficient, i.e. 8 hours lying awake = 6 hours “good sleep,” in terms of rest.

    Is it normal to have trouble falling asleep?
    I’m a couple weeks pregnant with my first child (ooo still sounds so weird lol) and me and sleep are like enemies. I have so much trouble falling asleep cramps, backache, headache, & w/e else decides to pop up. Once I finally fall asleep I feel like I am right back up! This all really is erking my last nerve, is this normal?!

    For as long as I can remember I’ve had trouble falling asleep. Normally, i’ll be extremely tired yet I won’t let myself sleep. I lie awake and constantly look over the edges of my bed in fear something may be lurking there. I know I’m safe in my own home yet it never seems to feel that way when I try to fall asleep. This makes me stay awake for up to a few hours. I’m not sure why this is happening, any help? Also, I’m 13 and suffer from depression, if that helps any.

      i am the same.. i have had problems sleeping since i was around 12 and im 24 now.. i do think the only way around this is if u see someone about it.. jus mention it to ur doctor..

      the only thing that seems to help me kind of is listenin to a story tape/audio book.. but i often put it on silent cos im paranoid i can hear somethin.. but without it i will lay there for hours.. with it after a while i will drop off eventually xx

      hope u sort it out i know how annoyin it is not to be able to sleep .. xxxx
